One of the biggest challenges as a web designer is to create a space for works of art to exist, create a way to navigate through the work, and in the same breath, make the site vanish behind the work.
Often times designers spend too much on designing a beautiful site, with incredible colors, flashy buttons and even sound. When designing a site for an artist, one must look in the other direction. I don't mean make an ugly site with no color or no interaction, but rather understand that it's not about the website, it's about the artwork - it must be given space and the ability to exist without distraction. This was the goal of Fred's website.
